The following table presents key terms used in XCM Utilities.
Term |
Description |
Task |
A Task is the project you are working on. Examples would be a 1040, 1120, or an Audit engagement. |
Status |
A Status is the step the project is currently in. Examples would be Preparation, Review, or Complete. |
Recurring Task |
When a Task is recurring, XCM automatically creates the Task and assigns it to a specific user based on the recurring Task settings. Recurring Tasks are typically used for Tasks that occur Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly. |
Rollover Task |
When a Task is rolled over in XCM, the Task gets carried forward to the following fiscal year and a new Task is created with the Status as No Info In. The Rollover process can be done manually from the Rollover Task Utility or can be an automatic process from the Manage Task Types Utility. |
No Info In |
New Tasks are automatically placed in the No Info In Status when they are created. Tasks in No Info in are not assigned to anyone and can be found when using the Advanced search. |
NLC |
NLC is a Status which stands for No Longer Current or No Longer Client (depending on your firm’s usage). Similar to No Info In, Tasks in this Status cannot be assigned to any user. |
